In this course students produce product design, for small products such as watches, phones, computers, drink bottles etc. They will also design packages, which involves the Graphic Design of printed labels, and the three dimensional constructions to house products. Students follow the design process to creatively solve design problems in response to a series of briefs. Skills developed include freehand drawing and technical drawing, rendering and working with graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Theory work focuses students on analysing major designers and design movements from the 20th Century.

This course is highly recommended for students who wish to continue to study Visual Communication Design and VET Certificate III in Screen and Media, and leads to careers in Graphic Design, Product Design or Industrial Design.
