If anyone has ever asked you if text messaging is legitimate - your answer should be a resounding ‘yes’! There’s actually more to the way you use the English Language than you might think. Looking at our English language in an analytical way might be something that interests you. This introductory English Language course provides insight into how and why people communicate using different forms of language. Students consider the many variations of Australian English not just the one we learn in school. Students look at a range of written and spoken texts including news articles, opinion pieces, memes, text messages and conversations. They analyse features of the language and how it promotes a particular world-view and identity.
