Year 10 Music

Year 10 Music explores a variety of music and cultural contexts through research, composition and performance. Students study composition through the lens of video game soundtracks and soundscapes, learning a variety of traditional and non-traditional composition tools, techniques and skills to create and produce a video game soundtrack to underscore their own devised storyline. World Music and historical influences are researched and referenced in class ensemble and solo performances and students produce a podcast that demonstrates contrasting music styles, characteristics and features whilst exploring the role of music across cultural, societal, political contexts and environments. The idea of reimagining musical works is introduced, whilst arranging and developing scores and performance works is learned through students developing skills on their instrument and in digital music production.
