Students explore the causes, significant events and aftermath of key 20th Century conflicts, including World War 2, the Holocaust and The Cold War. Students research and investigate political ideologies (Fascism, Communism and Democracy) and their influences on an increasingly global world. 

  • The perspectives of people and different historical interpretations and debates (Fascism, Democracy & Communism) from the period
  • Significant events, turning points of World War II and the nature of warfare, including the Holocaust and use of the atomic bomb.
  • Significance of World War II to Australia’s international relationships in the twentieth century, with particular reference to the Britain, the USA, Asia and United Nations
  • Effects of significant post-World War II world events and developments on one major global influence (The Cold War) that shaped change in Australian society
  • Changing social, cultural, historical, economic, environmental, political and technological conditions on a major global influence in Australia
