This course is for students with a passion for the arts with a focus on the three disciplines of drawing, painting and photography. This course is for students who want to further their skills and be prepared for the arts industry. This qualification will give the student skills in communicating visually, drawing, painting, photography and digital imaging, as well as teaching them design principles in representing and capturing images.
UNITS 1&2
Students develop their art making skills with a focus on developing and producing drawings, the design process and applying theory and history to their artwork. The tasks require students to demonstrate perseverance, organisation and creativity when completing the practical tasks. Units offered for the Unit 1 and 2 include:
UNITS 3&4
Students will further develop their art making skills with a focus on developing and producing paintings and photographs. These units will also focus on preparing the students for the arts industry. Units offered for the Unit 3 and 4 include:
Learning Activities:
Students will learn through a range of online written tasks such as structured questions or short answers relating to the content for each unit. The students will also then apply the theory they have learnt to a range of practical tasks. The major tasks include producing a range of drawings, a painting, design and digital photographs.
Key Skills Achieved:
Students will learn drawing methods and theory, operating a camera and taking photographs, photographic digital manipulation, basic painting methods such as colour mixing and basic design skills. Students will also have the option to further their existing skills in these areas at their own pace. Working through the creative design process. They study the creative process (for both art and design), and research a career in the creative arts industry.
What credit will I receive toward my VCE or VCE VM?
Credit in both VCE or VCE VM - This course provides recognition of two or more units at Units 1 & 2 level, and in a Units 3 & 4 sequence.
What credit will I receive toward my ATAR?
Students who study a Units 3 & 4 sequence will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the average four scaled studies). This course does not offer scored assessment
