Offers students the opportunity to acquire entry level skills, knowledge and competency that will enhance their training and employment prospects within the community services sector. To achieve this qualification, students must have completed at least 20 hours of volunteer work (Structured Workplace Learning) in line with the assessment requirements of the course. Active volunteering is a one year course. This qualification is a stepping stone to gain real-world experience, build confidence, and explore future careers in community services, education, health, and youth and social justice work.

Assessment:

The course entails a variety of assessments including minimum volunteer hours, research tasks and written reflections.

What credit will I receive toward my VCE or VCE VM?

Students undertaking Active Volunteering are eligible for up to two VCE VET units at a Unit 1 & Unit 2 level (including VCE VM) on their VCE statement of results.

Completing a Certificate II in Active Volunteering opens up a range of opportunities for students interested in helping others and making a positive impact in their community. This qualification can lead to further study in areas such as community services, aged care, disability support, education support, event/administration roles and youth/social work. It also provides valuable experience and skills that can support entry into volunteer roles, assistant positions in schools or community organisations, and future leadership opportunities.
